The dam is 40 km away from Ranchi. The Dam was constructed by Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The dam has an average elevation of 405 metre i.e. 1328 feet. The dam is surrounded by a beautiful green forests of Saal trees.

This dam was made in Nalkari River to store water. This is a very good picnic spot of Jharkhand. Boating facility is also available in this dam.
